Morally Straight… unless it costs them $money$
Jun 30th, 2004 by scaredpoet

How can the Boy Scouts speak and brag of being “morally straight,” when they refuse to do something simple like take responsibility for their own actions?

Let’s see if Moore will put his money where his mouth is…

It appears that maybe Michael Moore and I agree on something, that being that copyright law in the US is being horribly abused. Of course, we may find out soon enough whether he really believes this or not.

Among the ways to test this is the invitation to “steal” his movie. Since Moore claims he’s not against people downloading his work off peer-to-peer networks, as long as they don’t make a profit on it, we’ll have to assume this is okay. Of course, we at scaredpoet.com disclaim all liability here. 🙂

Besides, this might be a good way to avoid ultra-left fanatics who like to violently demonstrate in support of the movie outside of movie theaters.

Note: for the record, I don’t advocate the site link’s outher views, such the whole let’s-re-elect-Bush thing. Goodness knows I hate Bush. But if the public thinks we’re all a bunch of Michael Moores, then w’eve pretty much handed the election over to the GOP, in my opinion.

Makes me sad to be a liberal

A ruckcus occurred over the weekend at a screening of Farenheit 9/11. Is anyone surprised?

But the horror kept on growing for Streeter as he walked to his car on the phone with police, “This guy turns, and totally by surprise takes his hand and bam! It was a big guy. Shoved me onto the ground, I hit my head.” A police report has been filed.

This is why the Right keeps winning elections, people. If the left keeps looking like a bunch of chaotic hooligans who will readily kick the ass of anyone who not even disagrees, but is simply ambivalent to their views, then I find it hard even for me to show up at the polls this coming election day to vote for anyone.

Now, if anyone plans on coming over to smack me to the ground, post a comment and let me know beforehand. So’s I can be ready ‘n all. 🙂

FWIW, I have been in contact with moveon.org’s PR point person after I informed them that I was writing this up (see what having a crummy website will get you?). Per Moveon.org:

If you read the story or follow up with the reporter you will find that the accused IS NOT a MoveOn member.

So, just a fanatic that took things a little too far, according to the MoveOn pac. Though honestly, nowhere in the story does it say that the “accused” isn’t a moveon.org member, unless I’m missing something.

If you’re an activist, keep your cool, and don’t let this happen to you!

Say Wha?

I’m not sure if that’s a joke, or real. 😛

On second thought… No, it’s gotta be a joke.

China-Car!

Yugo

Remember the Yugo? If course ya do! It was Yugoslavia’s answer to quality vehicles that actually lasted a while. Unfortunately, the yugo wasn’t exactly the best in terms of quality, and it’s hard to find any still in existence on the road today. But it made a splash when it first entered the US Market in 1985, as the cheapest car sold in the US (at a base price of $3990… adjusted for inflation, the car would cost $6633.59 today).

And cheap it was! Insurance companies were reluctant to write policies, saying the cars weren’t crashworthy. Owners complained of faulty brakes, electrical systems, engines that would prematurely die, and defective shifters (automatic transmission? what’s that?).

Yugo Amerika

Unfortunately, all the patriotism in the world couldn’t save the Yugo, and the American arm of the company went bankrupt in 1989. The company lingered on life support until 1991, when the last Yugo was imported.

Why the history lesson? Well, it appears that some idiot wants to start importing cars from Chinese automakers into the us:

The plan is to have the dealers sell as many as 60,000 Chinese-built cars and trucks at prices starting below $10,000, by the end of the year, Shelburg’s business associates told Reuters.

And what would a China Motors car look like?

China Motors

Something like that. While it looks more up to date, it kinda bears a resemblance to a certain Yugoslavian import from the ’80s, don’t you think?
