Scared of Santa: First of the Bah-Humbug! series

santa

You’ve seen the big Santa display every year at the malls. You’ve seen the kids line up around the North Pole getup, annoyed impatient parents in tow, wanting desperately to sit on that old fart’s lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. A blurry Polaroid is taken of each encounter, and the parents are charged exhorbitant prices to retrieve the evidence.

But, there’s another, not-so-ruddy and cheerful side to this scenario that plays out every year: the countless kids who get scared and traumatized by the old coot. Now, those horrors have been documented. Behold, the Scared of Santa gallery. View, and enjoy at the expense of countless frightened children, you old Scrooge you.

The Iraq

No, this NOT a Photoshop job. This is an actual CNN photo.

November, the month for celeb-race-ion and mirth
Dec 1st, 2006 by scaredpoet

Okay, what’s the deal with comics picking the month of November to totally melt down?

First, there was the whole Michael Richards thing. And then, Danny DeVito decides to show up on America’s favorite old-hen show, while drunk off his ass.

So what the hell happened here? First Cramer goes on a race-war, and then this slob shows his real colors.  Was November officially designated as national End Your Career Month?
By the way… The Michael Richards thing really has me annoyed as well. Not just for the obvious reason: Cramer really DID do something entirely uncalled for. But now, every two-bit public figure that hasn’t been in the limelight for a while is using it to cash in and get some airtime. And then there’s the boycott of Seinfeld Season 7. This is a completely irrational response to the incident! And thankfully, no one is taking the boycott seriously. In fact, sales are soaring.

Perhaps the increased sales means the public is realizing the overreactions to certain public meltdowns is not the way to solve the problem. On second thought, nahhh… people just love to take part in a public train wreck 🙂
